EEO Codes and Job Groups

You will be working with your consultant to identify and/or review appropriate job groupings. In the meantime, these are the EEO Codes used by the Department of Labor and some examples of the types of Job Groups that might be identified as appropriate for your company.
  • Executive/Senior Level Officials and Managers (Chief Executive Officers, Chief Operating Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Line of Business Heads, Presidents or Executives, Vice Presidents of Functional Areas or Operating Groups, Chief Information Officers, Chief Human Resources Officers, Chief Marketing Officers, Chief Legal Officers, Management Directors and Managing Partners)
  • First/Mid-Level Officials and Managers (Vice Presidents and Directors; Group, Regional or Divisional Controllers; Treasurers; Human Resources, Information Systems, Marketing, and Operating Managers; First-line Managers; Team Managers; Unit Managers; Operations and Production Managers; Branch Managers; Administrative Services Managers; Purchasing and Transportation Managers; Storage and Distribution Managers; Call Center or Customer Service Managers; Technical Support Managers; and Brand or Product Managers)
  • Professionals (Administrative - sometimes, Senior Administrative and Administrative; Technical - sometimes, Senior Technical and Technical - sometimes, Software Engineers and Hardware Engineers)
  • Sales (Outside Sales - must close sales. This is not to be used for Inside Sales people who take orders and/or provide customer service unless they specifically are individuals responsible for negotiating and closing sales agreements)
  • Technicians (Nonexempt technical - sometimes, Senior Technicians and Technicians - sometimes, Engineering Technicians and Test Technicians)
  • Administrative Support (Nonexempt administrative - Secretaries, Administrative Assistants)
  • Craftworkers (Nonexempt skilled production - prototype assemblers)
  • Operatives (Nonexempt semi-skilled production - assemblers)
  • Laborers (Nonexempt unskilled production - glass washer, helper)
  • Service workers (Nonexempt service worker - janitors)
